Electronic Tribes is scheduled for release in June 2008. Preorder it.

What is a dissertation?
A doctoral dissertation is a book-length piece of original scholarly work, often involving empirical research.

What are your current research objectives?
I intend to craft a few articles out of my dissertation, but I'm always full of ideas and coming up with angles on culture and communication! I like to unpack embedded meanings, if I could generalize, though lately I've been thinking a lot about narrative.

Some things I've written

Here you can read about my publications.
    Book Chapters
  • "Digital Dreamtime, Sonic Talismans: Music Downloading and the Tribal Landscape" in Electronic Tribes: The Virtual Worlds of Geeks, Gamers, Shamans, and Scammers, eds. Tyrone L. Adams and Steve Smith (University of Texas Press, June 2008).
    My Dissertation (UMI Microfilms)
  • "Online Music Infringers: Age and Religiosity As Factors In Illicit Music Downloading"
  • A largely qualitative cross-group study of the impact of several variables on unauthorized download of music files.
  • I interviewed 15 subjects, each for about 2 hours, for a total of 27 hours interview time (conducted, recorded, transcribed) and statistically analyzed the data from 155 surveys.
