ADD/DROP and COURSE
WITHDRAWALS
Students may add or drop courses to their schedule during the first
week of classes. During the second week of the term, a student may
drop only. There may be an adjustment in the tuition charged and/or
it may affect your financial aid. See the Student Finance
Department,
Room 247 if you have any questions.
After the second week of classes, a student may withdraw from a
course.
A course withdrawal form must be completed and the student must obtain
the signature of the instructor and turn in the form in Academics, Room
237. A student must withdraw from a standard 15-week course by the end
of week 11. A student must withdraw from an 8-week hybrid, compressed,
accelerated or online course prior to the final exam. No tuition
adjustments are made for course withdrawals after the drop/add period; however,
it may affect your eligibility for financial aid. See your financial
aid advisor, Room 247 for more information.
ACADEMIC STANDING
To be in good academic standing, a student must maintain a cumulative
grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00. If at the end of an
academic term a student's CGPA is less than 2.00 or the student has not
made timely academic progress, the
student is placed on academic probation. The probationary period is
typically one semester, and formal academic advising is encouraged prior
to further enrollment. If at the end of the probationary semester:
-
the student has withdrawn from all courses during the semester, the
student will be dismissed.
- the student's term grade point average (TGPA) is below 2.00, the
student will be dismissed.
- the TGPA is at least 2.00, but the CGPA is below 2.00, the student
will be permitted to remain on probation for one additional semester. If the
CGPA is not raised to at least 2.00 by the end of the additional
probationary semester, the student will be dismissed.
- the CGPA is raised to at least 2.00, the student is returned to good
academic standing.

expedite
the large number of requests that we receive, a computer generated letter
has been developed that includes social security number, dates of
enrollment,
program of study and degree date or anticipated date of graduation.

please provide us with a written request which includes your name, social
security number, program of study and the name and address of the party
to which it will be mailed. An enrollment verification request form
is available in the Registrar's office, Room 237.

Attendance Policy
DeVry University is an attendance taking institution. As
such students are expected to attend every class meeting for which they
are registered. The College values student attendance because it is vital
to students’ academic success. Attendance will be taken through an
“automated attendance/swipe” system. Students that violate
the Attendance Policy are subject to dismissal from the College.
- Students are required to obtain a valid and
functioning ID card and to have that with them at all times.
- Students are required to
“swipe” in to the automated attendance card reader at the
beginning of each class meeting.
- The card reader will accept data 5 minutes
prior to the start of class and up to 29 minutes after the start of class.
- Students are responsible for all work missed
during any absence and it is their responsibility to contact the
appropriate faculty member(s) concerning any possible make-up work.
- Make-up work is not guaranteed and is arranged
and provided at the discretion of the individual faculty member.
- Students who are absent for three or more
consecutive days should contact the Associate Dean of their program to
avoid dismissal.
- Absences include, but are not limited to,
non-attendance due to illness, funeral leave, personal problems, cutting
class, transportation problems or inclement weather.
- Students who miss five or more consecutive
days of their course schedule are subject to dismissal from the college
and may receive an attendance dismissal notice.
- Students who miss 20% or more of an individual
course are subject to being administratively withdrawn from the course at
the discretion of the faculty member and the appropriate Academic
administrator.
- Students who do not participate in an on-line course for one week
will receive an on-line attendance notice.
- Students who do not participate in an on-line course for the first 2
weeks of the class will be dropped from the course.
- Students who do not participate in an on-line course for any other 2
consecutive weeks will be withdrawn from the course as of their last
date of participation.
- Students who receive an attendance dismissal
notice have 7 calendar days from the date of issue to appeal.
- If a student’s ID card is
malfunctioning, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain a new
ID card from the Student Finance Office, Room 247.
- In the event a student
“forgets” their ID card, it is the student’s
responsibility to obtain an Attendance Revision form from Academics, Rm
237, have their faculty member(s) sign and date the form, then turn the
completed form in to the Academic Attendance Coordinator.
- There are only two grounds for an appeal of an
attendance dismissal, an error in the attendance records or proof of
satisfactory academic performance.
- All students are expected to be on time for
classes. Excessive tardiness will be handled as a disciplinary problem and
could result in dismissal from the College.
- Enrollment in school constitutes
acknowledgement of the attendance policy. Notification of an attendance
policy violation is a courtesy and is not required to dismiss for policy
violations. Students are expected to know the policy and abide by the
regulations. It is the student’s responsibility to check for
revisions of the policy each semester.
